Director of Product Engineering
At e-conomic, we are looking for a Director of Product Engineering to lead our teams in creating high-performance development environments that drive our product innovation and serve over 200,000 businesses across Denmark. Scope of the Role
As the Director of Product Engineering, you will be leading teams responsible for both our core applications and new strategic investments. You will work closely with your peers in product engineering, aligning the strategic direction of your area with the broader product strategy.Your leadership will ensure that product teams are empowered, technically excellent, and delivering value efficiently.
In close collaboration with our Director of Engineering, Jacob, you will balance technical direction with our business objectives, fostering a customer-centric mindset. Our teams operate within Product Trios, which we believe is an empowered team model that encourages collaboration between Product Managers, UX Designers, and Developers.
Your team
You will be part of the leadership team within our Product & Engineering organization, working with a distributed team of over 80+ people located across Denmark, Romania, and Portugal. You will lead two Heads of Development directly and work with 12 Product Teams indirectly, managing teams remotely while also participating in occasional in-person meet-ups and visits to our various locations.

About the broader Products department (R&D)
You will be joining our development organization Products (R&D) with +190 employees, primarily located in Denmark, Romania and Portugal, working with technologies and platforms like C#, React, MS-SQL, Mongo DB, GCP, Istio, Cloudflare, Terraform, Datadog, Identity Server, Cortex and Swarmia.We are a diverse group of +20 nationalities, including Developers, Product Managers, QA Engineers and UX Designers.
Your main tasks- Leader of leaders for teams responsible for our core application and our new investments. This will be 2 Head of Development in direct reference and 80+ in indirect in the product development teams
- Strategically define and plan for setting ambitious goals on efficiency and quality for our 12 Product teams
- Balancing our strategic initiatives on Engineering with our functional Product Strategy
- Working across functional areas with peers on a Director level
- Develop some super talented people both in direct and indirect reference
- Always keep our customers happiness as your north star

We imagine a candidate with the following experience:
- 5-7 years of experience as a software engineer and/or technical lead
- 3-5 years of experience in top-management in a larger Product organization
- 3-5 years of experience as a leader of leaders, and 5 years of experience as a leader
- Proficiency in English
- Enjoys and proven in collaborating and communicating across functions
- Comfortable with ambiguity
- Comfortable with making and selling unpopular decisions
- Professional pride mixed with pragmatism
