We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated to lead, manage and advance the Metabolomics Platform at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR), University of Copenhagen, starting on January 1, 2025, or after agreement.
About CBMR
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) is an academic research Center that pioneers groundbreaking research towards better cardiometabolic health. Through collaborative interdisciplinary research from single-cell genomics to whole-body systems, CBMR aims to transform the basic understanding of cardiometabolic health and accelerate its translation into prevention and treatment strategies.The Center’s uniquely multi- and inter-disciplinary approach combines research in genetics, physiology and pharmacology, to better understand the complex interplay of the many factors that drive cardiometabolic disease. CBMR was established in 2010 at the Faculty of Health & Medical Sciences and has been located in the Maersk Tower at PANUM since 2017. The around 260 employees, distributed over 21 research groups and five enabling biology and technology platforms, create an international, highly collaborative research environment across disciplines.
The Metabolomics Platform
As one of five enabling biology and technology platforms, the Metabolomics Platform is an integral part of CBMR, aiming to develop analytical strategies for metabolomics-driven systems biology in personalized health strategies. The Platform offers experimental and computational services and assistance with project planning of metabolomics-based projects on a case-by-case basis.In-house expertise and services help our scientists streamline their research, so they can test their research hypothesis better and faster. The position
The Metabolomics Platform Lead will play a critical role in leading and coordinating/managing a team of specialists and technicians and be responsible for day-to-day project coordination. The Metabolomics Platform Lead will be responsible for orchestrating and improving the processes that are required to further the development of the Platform at large and making it future proof while keeping the Center’s vision and objectives in mind.Moreover, the Metabolomics Platform Lead will collaborate with stakeholders across the entire Center and beyond and ensure optimal utilization and advancement of the Platform (also beyond the Center’s borders).
The ideal candidate
To successfully lead a well-established Platform team, we aim to onboard a candidate with experience in leading and developing diverse teams and profound experience in metabolomics or relevant/equivalent techniques.
The ideal candidate has a very strong drive, naturally spearheading change in large organizations, and has a strong understanding of the inner workings of academia and health science, ideally through experience from a similar set-up in a large and excellent research institution.
Requirements, qualifications, and evaluation criteria
We expect you to have:
- a PhD degree or equivalent in a biochemistry or (analytical) chemistry related discipline.
- proven track record of leadership skills, either as a project or people manager, with a minimum of 5 years of professional work experience.
- in-depth knowledge and insights into metabolomics analysis (e.g., analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry-based analyses, metabolic flux analysis, statistics, as well as data management and presentation)
- a proven track record of connecting the dots across several stakeholders where expectations are high, and success requires exceptional teamwork and a strong drive.
- excellent interpersonal, negotiating, and business-developing skills, with an ability to nurture internal and external partnerships across different research centers and collaborators.
- excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English

Terms of salary and employment
The appointment as Metabolomics Platform Lead is positioned as Senior Consultant (’TAP-FU Chefkonsulent med personaleansvar’) and is a full-time and permanent position. The start date is January 1, 2025, or after agreement. Working hours will be 37 hours per week on average.
Employment will be in accordance with The Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning Academics in the state sector concluded between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and Akademikerne (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).Furthermore there is a possibility to negotiate supplements based on qualifications and experience.
