Quantum Materials Engineer (Front-end Epitaxy Process)
Quantum Materials Engineer (Front-end Epitaxy Process) – Quantum Foundry Copenhagen
Join us in building the next generation foundry for quantum processor manufacturing – We are seeking several Quantum Materials Engineers to be part of our growing team.
Do you want to be a part of pioneering quantum computing in a world-class quantum ecosystem in the heart of Copenhagen? Quantum Foundry Copenhagen is a newly founded company, owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF), aimed at developing next generation Quantum Computing Processor technologies.
Our mission is to establish a foundry capable of manufacturing quantum processor units (QPUs) employing novel methods to meet the extreme requirements for purity and precision needed to bring Quantum Computing to scale.
About us
Our company is part of a vibrant and growing Danish quantum ecosystem, and we collaborate closely with world-leading researchers at Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP www.nqcp.ku.dk) based at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. The NQCP programme is designed to facilitate and drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing materials and quantum processor technologies through solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications.
In close collaboration with NQCP and international partners, we aim to pioneer chip-based fabrication and packaging methods for state-of-the-art quantum processors.
Join our team
We are looking for several quantum materials engineers to join our efforts in developing next generation quantum processors based on in-house chip manufacturing methods. Together with a dedicated interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers your work will be centered around creating scalable error corrected quantum processors in close collaboration with NQCP engineering teams, pilot lines and external partners.
Depending on experience your responsibilities will be tailored to match your qualifications and ambitions. Your main responsibilities will be in our Front-end Epitaxy Process (FEP) team and tasks may include:
- Develop and improve wafer-scale crystal growth methods. This may include high-quality low-dimensional material platforms, such as planar two-dimensional electron gases and/or scalable nanostructured crystal growth.
- Support the manufacturing strategy and roadmaps for leading-edge quantum processor development.
- Implement and improve standards for systems engineering and data logging/analysis concepts.
- Perform tests, develop, troubleshoot and debug issues regarding tools and processes and provide regular updates to the wider team.
- Establish in-line inspection for fast loop materials development.
- Analyze requirements against existing capabilities and estimate risks and yields for new processes.
Professional and Personal Qualifications
You may have several years of experience and want to work at the cutting edge of technology. You can see new solutions to problems and work with your colleagues to help Quantum Foundry Copenhagen become one of the leading quantum foundries in the world.
Your qualifications include:
- Master or PhD in material science, chemical/electronic engineering, physics, or a related discipline.
- +3 years' experience with materials synthesis, nanodevice fabrication
- Preferably experience with Silicon-Germanium (SiGe) epitaxy or oxide material growth using e.g. MBE and/or CVD. Additionally, experience with a range of structural, electrical or optical characterisation techniques is an advantage.
- Familiarity with system engineering concepts and proficiency in data tracking and analysis methods.
You are driven and self-motivated, keep focus on pace and outcome and inspire others with your constructive and collaborative workstyle.
Your colleagues would describe you as analytical, structured, and curious. You are a team-player and work to develop the best solutions with input from highly skilled colleagues in interdisciplinary fields.
We offer
Joining our team offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration with leading experts in the field of quantum computing. We strive to be a world leading foundry and offer competitive salaries along with the many benefits of living in Copenhagen – one of the most liveable cities in the world.
Benefits also include generous vacation time, health insurance, a pension scheme, and a chance to contribute to a dynamic and innovative team.
