The position
As a Senior Contract Manager/Senior Contract Lead, in close collaboration with R&D colleagues in Denmark, USA, UK, and China, you will have independent responsibility for drafting and negotiating R&D agreements with academia, biotech companies, AI companies, and other industry partners globally.This will require some work time flexibility.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Ensure appropriate business and legal terms for Novo Nordisk with focus on intellectual property rights and knowledge transfer to Novo Nordisk
- Drive multiple projects and negotiations simultaneously – leading to finalising well-balanced agreements completed in a focussed and timely manner. Most negotiations are handled over emails and Teams calls, and the position requires limited travel activity
- Be involved with cross-functional assignments, legal advice, compliance issues, maintenance of contract templates and knowledge tools, presentations, etc
- Establish strong networks across the organisation and with external partners worldwide
- Work closely together with Novo Nordisk's scientific experts as well as other colleagues, e.g. in Global Business
All contracts are drafted and negotiated in English.
Across your tasks, you will support Development, Corporate Legal, Corporate Patents, Business Ethics Compliance Office, HBS experts, Development, AI Ethics, and Corporate Finance.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A master’s degree in law, business law or other relevant field and have 5-8 years of working experience from a similar job function with a law firm, life science industry or research institution
- A solid IPR, including copyright knowledge, contracting experience with collaborations between the pharmaceutical industry and academia, in particular experience with co-sponsorship collaborations and clinical trial agreements, as well as software license agreements, digital science, and AI in research
- Experience with personal data (GDPR or US privacy law) and/or human bio samples in research collaborations is an obvious advantage. Experience and knowledge of AI Ethics is a plus
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills, strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate complicated issues in a clear and concise manner, preferably with good power point skills

About the department
External Innovation Contracts is part of Global Business Development. Our team is responsible for drafting and negotiating R&D agreements to enable Novo Nordisk's access to external innovation, data and KOLs. We also ensure alignment and compliance with current NN positions and policies on data privacy/GDPR, business and bio-ethics.We offer an exciting position where you can help drive innovation, support the portfolio and external collaborations in Research and Early Development (R&ED), Development, and Global Business Development.
You will join a well-functioning and high-performing team of 12 dedicated colleagues, where knowledge sharing, collaboration, and helpfulness are part of our everyday team life, and where we all make sure that it is fun to go to work. We are based in Måløv, Denmark, but you will also be working from our sites in Bagsværd (HQ) and Søborg from time to time.
